I find the process of painting cathartic, operating as a sort of visual stream of consciousness. I am compelled to create both abstract and figurative representations, usually gravitating to a chaotic use of colour. I am particularly interested in colour psychology and its influence on emotional expression, as well as exploring the way in which a painted subject forces both the artist and the viewer to engage with it on a deeper level.
